Moon Rising Counselling

Counselling for growth

Perhaps you are feeling lost, in a 'strange place' or no longer feel yourself to be the person you once were. You'd like to understand why this is and talk about your difficult feelings with someone who is
non-judgmental and who can help you better understand them...

Why choose counselling?

From time to time, people can be overwhelmed by expectations made on them by themselves, society, or by the emotional distress caused by problems at home, illness, loss, breakups, or simply by the experience of living.

Counselling is a way in which you can talk to someone, who is not a close friend or family member and unburden yourself. Talking to someone in this way, someone who will listen to you in confidence and without judgement, can help you see your problems differently.

Who can I help?

My counselling experience is varied and includes working with people who have problems with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, work stress and coping with mid-life transitions. I have helped people overcome issues such as self harm, bereavement, separation anxiety and existential ("meaning of life") anxiety. Some of my clients are young people struggling with family breakups or where one or both parents haven’t been present during much of their lives.

I also work with both individuals and couples who are looking for support in their relationships.

How I work...

My approach is integrative, client-centred and draws upon psychodynamic and Transactional Analysis modes of working, among many others. (Don't worry! These are just fancy words that suggest that our current feelings, behaviours and the way we relate to others have their origins in our family life, including right back in our infancy).

I offer full one hour sessions which will normally be undertaken weekly on an agreed day and time
